Changes at the American Ferret Association

Your Membership and AFRs
What happened to 2010? It has been a challenging year all around. Anyway, if you notice the next issue of the AFR you receive (and it should be in the mail very soon) will be dated for the first quarter of 2011. And if you noticed the last issue you received was for the end of 2009. Since the membership will not be receiving an AFR at all for the 2010 calendar year we are adding a year of membership to everyone who should have received an AFR for 2010. New membership cards and a letter of explanation will be mailed the first week of February. If you have any questions concerning your membership or if you have any other question about the AFA, please email us at afa@ferret.org.

Changes in Leadership:
AFA is very excited to announce that Penny Hendrix has once again agreed to take on the role of President. For those of you that were part of AFA prior to 2009, you may remember the great number of accomplishments that AFA had under her leadership. We see great things ahead for AFA and the ferrets and ferret enthusiasts under Penny's guidance!

Also an exciting addition, Mary McCarty is AFA's new Shelter Committee Director. Mary has vast experience with sheltering as well as ferret breeding, ferret husbandry and many levels of ferret care. We have some very exciting projects in the works for this committee and Mary will be instrumental in accomplishing them. Welcome back Mary!

But wait, there is more! Sara Hamilton has accepted the position of Vice-President. Sara has many years of experience in ferret care, breeding, shelter support, and leadership. She is also a licensed AFA Specialty Judge. Welcome aboard Sara!

Not done yet! Kim Crivello has accepted the position of PR for the AFA. Kim currently chairs the Greater Chicago Ferret Association's PR committee so she brings her knowledge and experience to this much needed position. We have many projects needing Kim's attention so we are very pleased to have her on our AFA team. Welcome Kim!
