Febuary 1, 2006 The American Ferret Association has created a research fund for studying Disseminated Idiopathic Myositis (DIM). This fund is dedicated to the many ferrets that have suffered and died from this terrible disease. Although much information has been examined from almost 100 suspected cases over the last 2 1/2 years, we still do not know the cause or have a cure for DIM. Funding is needed to support the ongoing research that is being done in an effort to identify a cause for DIM and understand the actual disease process. Hopefully this will help us prevent other ferrets from contracting DIM and cure the unfortunate ones that do suffer from this horrific disease.
